Our Orthopaedic Outpatient Surgery Center (OOSC) is designed for people who are time-conscious and appreciate personal care.

The OOSC is exclusively dedicated to the care of patients with orthopadic injuries, making it a center of excellence in orthopaedic care. Jointly owned and operated by DMOS and Iowa Health - Des Moines. These two groups come together to provide you with the most comprehensive, expert medical care available. Like the DMOS physicians, the staff at the OOSC specializes in the surgical care of orthopaedic patients only. Their exceptional knowledge and combined years of experience allow them to provide an efficient, comfortable environment and recovery stay.

To prepare for your surgery:

If you are scheduled for a procedure at the OOSC we look forward to meeting you. Our goal is to make your entire visit as pleasant and as comfortable as possible. Our nurses will contact you a few days in advance to take a brief medical history and answer any questions you might have about the surgery center. The day before your surgery, we will contact you a second time to confirm your arrival and surgery time, give you a few specific instructions, and again answer questions.

Family members are allowed to wait with you in our pre-op area before your surgery. After a brief time in your recovery room, your family can again join you as you fully recover in the recovery area until your physician discharges you. All this can be done in as little as 2-5 hours, depending on the surgery. After you go home, a nurse will call you on the day following your surgery to see how you are doing.
